Biogen—Grants Management & Strategic Giving

Biogen’s global grants and giving strategy aims to catalyze scientific innovation, address unmet patient needs, and advance medical and disease education through funding a variety of programs and initiatives throughout the year.

The Biogen Grants Management & Strategic Giving office strives to create opportunities through various funding mechanisms including grants, fellowships and sponsorships.

Grants:

  • Medical Education
    • Funding to an eligible institution or organization to support independent medical educational activities for HCPs and researchers. Medical education may be accredited or non-accredited.
    • Areas of Interest: Biogen is currently accepting requests in Alzheimer’s Disease. 

  • Patient Education

    • Funding to an eligible institution or organization to support independent educational activities for patients or caregivers.

    • Areas of Interest: Biogen considers requests across a variety of disease areas including Alzheimer’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

  • General Grant

    • Funding to support a project or program that does not fit any of the other defined grant categories.

    • Areas of Interest: Biogen considers requests across a variety of disease areas including Alzheimer’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Fellowships:

  • Funding for training programs created by medical schools, academic medical centers, teaching hospitals, or other healthcare-related organizations to support faculty and visiting scholars to advance their educational and research activities. Through Biogen's Fellowship Program, Biogen supports the education and development of future specialists in therapeutic areas with unmet need. Biogen's goal is to advance the care of patients in these areas by providing support to qualified organizations with robust and comprehensive clinical training programs in these specialty fields. Biogen considers requests to support Clinical Fellowship Programs in Alzheimer’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

Sponsorships:

  • Funding to organizations, institutions, and other entities acting on their behalf to support congresses, events or other initiatives in exchange for tangible corporate benefits such as exhibit space, banners and other forms of recognition, or marketing opportunities.
  • Areas of Interest: Biogen considers requests across a variety of disease and focus areas, including, but not limited to: Alzheimer’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Biosimilars, Chemistry, Drug Development, Fibrosis, Lupus, Lymphoma, Multiple Sclerosis, Myotonic Dystrophy, Neuropathic Pain, Ophthalmology, Parkinson’s Disease, Pharmacology, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Sjogren’s Syndrome, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Stroke, Trigeminal Neuralgia, and other Neurological disease areas.
